TWU Helps Hurricane Sandy Victims

On November 19, 2012 the International Bus visited our area bringing with them much needed supplies for those members who suffered losses after Hurricane Sandy. Members were able to pick up household items, canned food, dried goods, coats, warm clothing, blankets, baby food, diapers, batteries and many other items to help them during the aftermath of this disaster! Vice President Juanita Samuels and Executive Board Members Cindy Tropeano and Josephine Bragoli were on hand to help distribute supplies.

Suffolk seeks bump in state funding for bus service

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has asked Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo for a nearly 50 percent bump in state funding for the county's bus system -- pointing out that Nassau gets a lot more money while contributing a lot less.
In a letter to Cuomo dated March 10, Bellone requested $10 million in new state funding for Suffolk County Transit, which carries about 22,000 passengers every weekday....

Harry Lombardo is testifying before the Senate Committee on Banking

Good afternoon Sisters and Brothers.
Harry Lombardo, President of the Transport Workers Union International, will be testifying before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs on behalf of all Transport Workers Union Members on on the importance of reauthorizing MAP-21, the federal surface transportation funding legislation. This is the first time a President of TWU has been asked to testify before Congress in recent memory.

Coney Island Family Day Brings Together TWU Locals Across All Divisions

Local 100’s 2015 Family Day brought together TWU’s transit, rail and air locals and their families for softball, grilling, fundraising and fun. Congratulations to Local 100 for retaining their trophy, and thanks to the local presidents, officers and members who came out, including President Mike Conigliaro of Local 101, President Debra Hagan of Local 252, Executive Vice President Pat Flannery with Local 2001,  President Victor Gonzalez and Vice President Angelo Cucuzza with Local 501, and President Joe DelliSanti and Vice President Steve Hamm of Local 229.
